Who Am I
Who am I
Am I the name given to me
Am I the citizen of the country I was born into
Or the townsmen of the town that I dwelt in
Or the student of the school I attended
Or the brother of the siblings I was born with
Or the Son of the parents that brought me to this world

Am I the graduate of the degree that I so labored for
Or the career that I have so searched for
Am I the loving and sometimes not so loving husband

When all this is examined and dropped one by one,
Be it by migration
Be it by success
Be it by graduation
Be it by marriage
Be it be a new birth
Be it by a new acquisition
Be it by a loss

When all this is gone and I lay quiet
On a mortuary table
Or on my death bed
Will I have know the answer
Who AM I
